OBJECTIVE:-
As the population the World increases the emergence of solid waste also increases. Hence the Enviro club, Department of Biotechnology, conducted the event Wealth from Waste to reuse and reduce the solid waste. The ultimate Aim of the event is to bring out the creativity among students and to minimize the solid waste. The idea rose from inspirational quotes of our Founder “Make Every Man A Success, No Man A Failure”. Also with reference to the speech by Dr.S.Thirumagan-Principal, Hindustan College of Arts & Science - ‘when creativity is exposed out, bad habits of the students gradually get reduced’ on the Chimera Association’s National Conference.
DESCRIPTION:-
The event “Wealth from Waste” was celebrated by the Enviro club, Department of Biotechnology, Hindustan College of Arts & Science. In accordance to the objective, the aim of the event serves to reduce the solid waste i.e. domestic waste by transforming into handmade crafts. Students were highly motivated by the event organizer in transforming the useless waste to useful handmade outcome. Totally 57 crafts were made out of solid waste by the students of various Departments. The handmade crafts were exhibited for the viewers in a hall and the exhibition hall was inaugurated by Respected Principal Dr.S.Thirumagan, Hindustan College of Arts & Science. The crafts were exhibited for three days from the Inauguration day for an open exhibition. The exhibits were evaluated by the judges Dr.S.Illanjium, Dean of Life Sciences and Mr.Prabhu, Head of the Department –Visual Communication, Hindustan College of Arts & Science.
By the afternoon the programme started in the Seminar hall with the prayer song by the students of II B.Sc Biotechnology. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr.Amala Lourthraj, Assistant Proffessor –Department of Biotechnology. The felicitation address is given by Dr.S.Thirumagan-Principal, Hindustan College of Arts & Science. The judges Dr.S.Illanjium, Dean of Life Sciences and Mr.Prabhu, Head of the Department –Visual Communication, Hindustan College of Arts & Science shared their views of the exhibition.
Students named Mythili Divya from III B.Sc and Anne Arthana Nagarajah from II M.Sc wrote Tamil poem on the topic of the event Wealth from Waste. Their poem was read out to everyone in the hall. Also Students named A.Amuthavalli from II M.Sc , Kaushik and Nivetha.R from I M.Sc Biotechnology displayed their handmade posters in the exhibition hall.The first three prizes and three consolation prizes were given to the winners. The certificates were issued to all the 57 participants. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.T.Ramesh, Assistant Professor, and Department of Biotechnology, Hindustan College of Arts & Science.
The entire programme was anchored by A.Amuthavalli II M.Sc Biotechnology. The entire programme was organized by Dr.T.Ramesh, Assistant Professor and Enviro club Co-ordinator, Department of Biotechnology, HCAS. The programme successfully ended up with the National Anthem. The event was a Grand Success.
